Accurate Islamic Prayer Times & Makruh Waqt Tracker

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) strictly forbade performing voluntary prayers during three periods: 1. From sunrise until approximately 15 minutes after sunrise, 2. When the sun is directly overhead at solar noon until Dhuhr starts, and 3. About 15-20 minutes before sunset as the sun turns dim until it sets completely. Offering voluntary prayers or performing prostrations of recitation during these times is disapproved (Makruh Tahrimi).

The difference lies in shadow length definitions. In the Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali schools, Asr starts when an object's shadow equals its height plus midday shadow. In the Hanafi jurisprudence, Asr starts when the shadow equals twice its height. NoorSalat lets you switch between both methods instantly with one click.

The prime time for Tahajjud (Night Vigil) is during the final third of the night, between Maghrib and Fajr. Duha (Chasht) prayer begins about 15-20 minutes after sunrise (after the prohibited sunrise window expires) and extends until approximately 10 minutes prior to Dhuhr.
